The Beatles-Fantasy
The Beatles - Fantasy is a five movement Rock symphonic poem based on Beatle themes, composed and arranged by Vahagn Papayan for woodwind quintet and rock band. The first performance has taken place on March 18, 2004 at the opening of British Pop Prints Exhibition, organized by the British Council Armenia.
Though being completely an instrumental work, every appearing tune is meant to provoke associations and allusions of their lyrics, and upon the relationship of these associations the strategy of the whole composition is built. The instruments are presented in equal conditions, exchanging the leading and accompanying functions with each other. All the movements contain the expositional segment followed by some sort of variations and elaborative parts, where themes and motives of various parts are commingled in new specific relations, and may be transformed almost to an unrecognizable degree. The culmination of the composition as a whole is the Finale, where notions of absoluteness of space and time in Beatles’ music are combined featuring “Here There and Everywhere” and “I Will”.
